What is the best gift for a Dungeon Master?
The 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide. It was substantially rewritten rather than lightly revised, so even a DM who owns the older edition gets genuinely new material. If you buy one thing for someone running a game, buy this.
What does a Dungeon Master actually need?
Time, mostly. Anything that cuts preparation is welcome — pre-written campaigns, modular terrain, and reference books they can steal from. The Campaign Case: Terrain replaces sketching maps mid-session, which is the most tedious part of running a game.
What should I buy a DM who already owns the core books?
A published campaign such as Vecna: Eve of Ruin, or a board game like Castle Ravenloft. Ravenloft plays cooperatively with no DM at all, which is the rare D&D night where the person who always runs the game gets to just play.
Is D&D merchandise a good gift for a Dungeon Master?
